Mount Huangshan, located in Huangshan City (黄山市), was once called Mount Yishan (黟山) in ancient times. According to the legend that Xuanyuan (Yellow Emperor) became a celestial here by conocting pills of immortality, later Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty changed its name to Mt. Huangshan in the sixth year of Tianbao (in 747 D.C.).
